The Manhattan Film Festival has utilized the ever-expanding digital environment to create a virtual model that brings filmmakers and audiences together in ways never done before. In 2007 they pioneered the first film festival to offer selection via a web-based competition. In 2008 they built off of their early success and featured watch & interact technology, virtual filmmaker Q & A's, virtual awards show, and virtual after-parties. Winning filmmakers were offered a VOD distribution deal. They later added a "Text to Vote" campaign in which festival attendees determined Audience Choice Winners via text messaging. Their creativity and forward thinking has helped establish them as a pioneer in the film industry. In 2011 their Virtual Film Festival will consist of the following:
• Signature Web-Based Competition
• Live Red Carpet Events
• Virtual Filmmaker Q & A’s
• Streaming Coverage of After-Parties
• Inside Coverage of Awards Show
• Behind the Scenes Making of the Festival
• Text to Vote Campaign
