MovieMaker Magazine: 25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee: 2012
The Manhattan Film Festival was founded by two independent filmmakers who learned first hand how hard it is to find an independent film an audience. We are dedicated to developing and discovering new ways to help filmmakers pursue a career out of filmmaking. In the process we introduce filmmakers and their work to new and expanding audiences. Since our inception we have introduced creative new programming which has expanded the definition of what a film festival means to a filmmaker. In 2011 we launched our Filmmaker Revenue Sharing Program which has already raised thousands of dollars for independent filmmakers. We also broadcast live red carpet interviews and this year panel discussions to a global audience. The festival is covered by local, national, and international media including the outlets seen below.
Since our inception the Manhattan Film Festival has continuously introduced exciting creative new programing. We were the first film festival to offer the option of film selection via a web-based competition. We later brought the festival experience virtual by arranging for filmmaker Rómulo Guardia to participate in a live Q & A from Venezuela. Most recently we launched the Filmmaker Revenue Sharing Program which has already raised thousands of dollars for independent filmmakers. As you can see from the testimonials below we work extremely hard to program a great show and put together an exciting festival. This is all possible because of the incredible films we receive every year!
